Okay, so our guest today was is originally from Durango, Colorado. She’s a graduate of Liliha. In Ottawa. They moved to Hawaii when she was in the 10th grade but after about six months, they became homeless and lived in the holly Eva Beach Park at a tent. She had worked at St. Francis Medical Center as an anesthesia technician and started going to church and then was hired to be a youth pastor. She became a singles pastor after and then later became a woman’s pastor. And in 2014, was asked to join the team at Salem media with 95.5 the fish. So welcome, welcome, Tisha from the fish. Hello,
TISHA:

ADRIENNE:
Yes, I can hear you. Okay.
TISHA:
I liked I liked the way you did that, too. Is that that fish?
ADRIENNE:
Yes, thank you. Thank you for being our guest. They’re excited to have you. I know that we’ve, we’ve joined you on your show. And we’re doing a like a charity drive. And that was so much fun. And now we get to have you on our show.
TISHA:
Oh my gosh, you guys came into the fish studios. And we became best friends, all three of us and then you go come on our show. And I’m like, Yes, I will do whatever you got to do and I’ll come with you.
ADRIENNE:
So, so yeah, so 95.5 You guys you’re on. What is the times where can our listeners tune in to hear you and you know, how do you keep them company?
TISHA:
No, I think you first of all, thank you so much. Team Lally listeners. You guys got the best team and I know you learn a lot from them. But yeah, I’m on 95.5 to fish Monday through Friday 3pm to 7pm right there on the FM station. They live media and I’ve been doing on on air host for about eight and a half years now. So it’s a lot of fun.
ADRIENNE:
Wow. You are approaching that that 10 year mark?
TISHA:
Oh, I know, can you believe and I never, I don’t know, I wanted to be that person. When I got asked, eight and a half years ago, I wanted to be that person that, you know, you’re 85 years old and somebody goes, so tell me about your life where like I did that thing called Radio One day I wanted to, I wanted that in my resume.
ADRIENNE:
So, so yeah, so let’s like, let’s back it up a little bit. So you went from the medical field to being you know, working within the church and and now into to radio like, that’s quite the path of unravel.
TISHA:
Crazy. Yes, doors, doors, just doors just kind of flung open for me. I always tell young people, if I’m talking to young people at a, at an event, I just went to a high school graduation. And I, you know, they asked me just to talk to the kids. And I said, Hey, you’re going to be filling out job applications, you’re gonna have that pen, you’re going to be filling up a little blank, little, you know, little blanks there and telling people about you and trying to get a job, but I go, don’t forget that you are a walking job application, people are watching. And people might want you on your team, you might even have to fill out a job application, people are going to come up to you and go, I’m wanting to be part of my team. So that’s kind of been my, my life.
ADRIENNE:
That’s a valuable, as valuable advice. Right? You never know who was watching you, right?
TISHA:
Yes, you never do. You never do. That’s why like, everything matters. I mean that your smile, your body language, the words that you use, putting that cart, which I hate to do, I’ll be honest, you know, I’m at Costco, and they changed all around, and I pushed my cart like 1000 pieces all over my car. Now it’s empty, and I have to go walk all the way back to that cart replacement. It sucks. I do not like to do it. But in my heart, I’m going I want to be that person. I want to be that person that’s gonna inspire somebody else. And I just go, Okay, I’m getting my extra 70 steps. And I start walking really fast. And I’m smiling, try to get and I put the cart back. And it kind of makes me feel like I’m making the world a little extra better. If somebody’s watching going, Oh, wow. That’s cool.
ADRIENNE:
So you get to inspire people during their drive time. You know, Monday through Friday, you know, from Yeah, three until seven. And yeah, so you’ve also created another way to inspire people. Let’s let’s talk about your your nonprofit and your ministry here this finding freedom ministries, yeah, let’s talk about that. Yeah,
TISHA:
it’s, you know, we all know that we get cranky, we get offended, we get, we get scared of people that we go into rooms, and we feel like oh, my gosh, I’m, I’m not as smart as, as they are, I don’t have the credentials, you walk in that room, and all of a sudden, you might have walked in feeling really comfortable. And then all of a sudden, you know, you meet somebody who’s an author, as a doctor, somebody that, you know, that has a business with 1000s and 1000s of people and all of a sudden you shrink. And, you know, we allow other people to weigh our worth. And, and I remember having these words that said, and whose significant because your significant disappear, or and whose great life is your great life disappear. And we allow that to happen. And so what’s finding freedom is being in that place where I’m not allowing other people to weigh my worth, I want to celebrate them. And I hope that they celebrate me back, I don’t want to criticize, and I don’t want to cut people down just so that way I feel better about myself. So it’s all of everything. It’s like it’s being able to find our peak in the midst of our stress and our mess, that stress could be walking into that room and all of a sudden I feel really small. It could be a mess where and I put my eyes a little longer than I should have on that person. And I’m married to it and I shouldn’t do that. I’m like, Oh my gosh, and now I’m you know, got a phone number. And I’m walking over here to go meet with them. Like how do I find peace? find myself being that person I want to be in this lifetime at the end of my life. I’m going to be laying there am I going to be stoked about the way I live my life the way I treat people. And so we’re human beings we fail we mess up and we need to forgive ourselves. We need to make better decisions the next day. That’s why I think God gives us 24 hours and we go to sleep when we try to wake up and I’m gonna do a little bit better this day. So that’s kind of like our our ministry we have a website is a nonprofit, you can go there to finding freedom ministries.com We got free stuff there to help you discover your placements that you matter that your part that you play matters that, yes, there’s awesome people around you, and they might have amazing credentials. But you’re awesome. And you’re amazing, and your story is still being unfolded. Or maybe you’re offended at somebody, and you’re trying to figure out how to get yourself back in a place where I’m at peace. And that, you know, I’m not breaking or, you know, breaking bridges, everywhere I go, I’m smashing people down. So, in right now, we really desire to help churches, help people, be better people. It’s not just going into church and listen to the message in the leaving you go. And sometimes you do that, and it’s good, but we’re trying to be walked beside them. So we got, we got a manual, we got a 10 week class that people can go through together as a group. And that’s what we’re working on. We’re about 85% Done. And we are, I feel like we’re climbing Mount Everest, and if you’ve ever climbed Mount Everest or ever watched documentary, 85% of the point, people die. And I feel like I just can’t die. We can’t let this just we’re almost there. So we’re gonna get to top we’re gonna put the flag in there, and we’re gonna see what happens. And we just love people, and we want to help people.
ATTILIO:
Yeah, I think Barbara Corcoran gave us some great advice. Very similar. She said, never be in a room where never allow, when you enter a room or come to a table, to have those people in the room or at the table, make you feel like you don’t belong. And as a female Realtor in the toughest real estate industry, mostly dominated by men. She got that all the time. And that was direct advice from Barbara Corcoran, that we got. And it was interesting, or my you know, my daughter got a tattoo on her wrist. And all it says is it says you belong. But the way that she has it faced is if somebody’s standing in front of her. That’s the way that it’s printed on her wrist so that it sent message to the person that’s in front of her and it says you belong.
TISHA:
That’s cool. Yeah, we bought her we bought her, our our home. And, you know, it’s amazing to buy your home in Hawaii and actually go well, we did that lot of iced coffee. But we were able to finally paint the outside, it was like this really dirty white. And we went through so many splotches. And the last paint color that we finally decided to do was humble gold. That’s the name of the paint humble gold. And I was how that’s cool those two words together. And I was, you know, just kind of hanging out with my journal and my Bible and, and all of a sudden, I just heard the words. That’s what that’s how I want you to be. And it was I was like I was I didn’t understand what, what’s that voice? And it was God, saying, I want you to be humble goals. And I was like, wow, I mean, and then all of a sudden, I heard, you know, Dan, decide that person and celebrate them succeed. That’s the humble part. You can stand beside them, you’re gonna champion them. And the gold part, he goes, I want you to celebrate me by shining. So it’s the it’s the two together, it’s like, you matter. And I matter. I don’t want to squash you down. You don’t squash me down. If you know you’re worth like your daughter, you know, saying to me, I belong. Whoa, that that’s standing beside somebody to see them station and not squashed by fear.
ADRIENNE:
So, with this finding freedom ministry, How could our our listeners and your listeners, how can they get involved? I mean, I know we talked about some of the resources. Do you guys need volunteers? Do you need more money? Like how can we support this nonprofit and this excellent ministry that you’ve been working so hard on for the last three years?
TISHA:
We have been working so hard girlfriend, I, you know, it’s it’s the real thing where you get hiccups. You get you get, you know, we had to film 30 Minute Messages. And it’s hard to do because you have you know, it’s like what you guys do here. It’s like we’re doing 20 minutes, and you got to get beginning to end and it not be too long. So it was rough. It was difficult, but we did it and they’re gorgeous. They’re gorgeous. They’re done. We got our film crew everything. It feels weird to be in the room, you’re finding freedom ministries.com You can go there and there’s a book that you can buy. You can buy it hardcopy, you can also buy it just I think it’s like $3 for you know it to be sent to you and you can read it there on your, your book app. You know, that’s one way. I mean, you know, I mean, and we got free stuff. I gotta I gotta tell you, I mean, we have been very, very blessed and, you know, in every way. So I’m just humbly saying If you just go there, and you want a free something, please go there, we got tons of articles, really how to do life well with people how to do life with yourself well, how to do life with a God who created you? Well, those are the three primary relationships. So those are the three that we have most problems with even the one with ourselves when we look in the mirror, and we may not say that we suck, but inside underneath, we’re going especially as we get older, we start to see yourself getting older and, and our brains aren’t functioning as well. And we start to get disgruntled with ourselves. So I really encourage you just go to find the freedom ministries.com Just look at some free stuff. And like I said, if you’re you know, you keep the lead to buy one of the $3 books and just kind of peruse through it, just kind of help you find a little bit more peace and maybe in the middle of your your stress are met.
ADRIENNE:
So, so yeah, so any of our listeners are involved in their church? How would you get a hold of you to like, have you guys come out and speak and get involved? And you know, spread this message?
TISHA:
Oh, my gosh, thank you so much. That’s so cool. Oh, my gosh, I think we have an email on our website. I think we do. I mean, you can go there I there’s like probably a place where you can write to us on Epicurious, because
ADRIENNE:
Tisha loves jesus@gmail.com is like that. Yeah.
TISHA:
Yeah, we did have another email for our ministry. But yeah, that’s my, my personal email, you could totally email me there, I don’t know for sure if our phone number is there, but also, you know, we also have a place where if you want personal prayer, just some time to hang out and kind of go, Hey, I’m thinking really bad thoughts. And I can’t get out of this destructive thinking towards myself or maybe towards others. And we want to stand beside people. And we know there’s a little there’s a little donation to meet up with either my husband or myself or, or us together, you know, that’s, that’s available as well. So churches, we’re, in the next maybe six months, we’re going to start I have so many friends here on the island, Attilio, and Adrian, that I’ve been so blessed that their senior pastors, they can go over there. And this is just to help your people, be better people. And so, you know, it’s a 10 week and they go into their small groups, and they watch it together and encourage each other also keeps account accountable with one another. Because oftentimes, when somebody buys a 10 week, something they don’t go through it by themselves. So this is you go through with a with a group, we’re doing this together. We’re going to meet every Thursday night, seven o’clock, and we’re gonna go to 10 a week. That’s it. So yeah, I mean, you can email me my personal emails you call me I’m always at the fish. You could stop by my house, if you are with Attilio. And Adrian, you know where I live. Just bring, bring some avocados and mango and
ADRIENNE:
come hang out for your hiking, they’re
TISHA:
the best hikers I love you guys, unit suyo are so amazing. I love you guys.
ADRIENNE:
That was quite the adventure that we had with you guys over in the rain. I did an extra extra waterfall. It was it was it was excellent.
TISHA:
You were like a mermaid that came out of out of the water. You and Attilio are awesome. I love you guys so much. And thank you so much for your heart for seeing people on this island and even other places have their forever home or maybe a home that they are just in for a while because, you know, like I said, I was homeless and for about two and a half months, and it’s under attend, to have your own square footage here in Hawaii and have somebody stand beside you and see that, that success. You know that when happened. So I just really applaud you guys. And I really thank you for all that you do for so many people here on this island and beyond.
ADRIENNE:
Well, thank you for that Tisha, and we’re, we’re pleased to be your friends. And yeah, and to be featured on your show sometimes and even to be we’re excited for the very next give back that we’re going to be doing with you. I’m not sure when exactly it is. But I know that it’s coming up soon that will be there. Again.
ATTILIO:
Well, the Oh my god. Other thing we want to say for the people out there that are driving home sitting in traffic, stop listening to the news, I think you all should tune into 95.5 while you’re sitting in traffic and go on a joy ride with Tisha on the fish, I think that would probably put you in a better mindset and bring you home to your family in a more loving and caring way than being grouchy from sitting in traffic.
ADRIENNE:
Yes, I agree. That’s good.
TISHA:
That’s good. Thank
you guys so much. Yeah, thank you.
ADRIENNE:
Well, thank you Tisha, for for being our guest and I will look forward to have you on again and look forward to spending some more time with you during we get the name of it like he’s like the the give back shows that
TISHA:
it well, we call it a radio campaign. It’s a campaign where you join organizations in ministry. It is crazy because one person will like, see a cause. And one person went, Oh, man, somebody should do something. And they become that somebody. And it could be food for the poor to the preborn. It could be hard for Lebanon, one person or maybe a husband and wife or friends. And then you see them become this organization. And they joined forces with us on the fish. And we asked the fish family to join what what was started by this person. And I’m not joking. It’s like one person walks by and sees, you know, people that are being sex trafficked, and they’re going to somebody should do something. They’re like, Oh, no, it’s going to be me, isn’t it? So there’s so many campaigns and really, I think, Team Lolly so much, because you joined us on our last campaign. And you guys were awesome. Amazing. Amazing. Just thank you so much for your heart to Yeah, it was so fun. And I’m so stoked to be your friend and, and to be able to spend a little bit of time with you, obviously, hiking and campaigning for a good cause.
ADRIENNE:
Yes, I can’t wait for the next one. I know. It’ll be soon. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Thanks for being
TISHA:
