ATTILIO:
Our guest today is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of experience in ICU and emergency room. She moved to Hawaii in 2005 as a travel nurse, and after years of witnessing preventable illnesses, she shifted her focus to proactive wellness and self care.
ADRIENNE:
She founded Vitaflow Wellness in Kailua, offering IV therapy, micro needling. PRP and at bat advanced esthetic treatments backed by science. She’s passionate about helping others feel their best while embracing Hawaii’s outdoor lifestyle. Please welcome back. Leigh Loganbill,
ATTILIO:
Hi, Leigh, hi. How are you always great? So you know our listeners, they like us to just get right to it. You ready go? I’m ready.
ADRIENNE:
So, I mean, as we, you know, talked about in the the introduction with Vitaflow Wellness, what are like? What are the key benefit like? What are the benefits of your guys key services? Yes,
LEIGH:
yeah. So IV hydration, we always say good health starts with hydration. Most people kind of walk around chronically dehydrated, which can cause premature aging, brain fog and fatigue. And so when you’re drinking water or when you’re taking an oral supplement, you’re only absorbing about 20 to 30% because it’s going through the digestive system, and you’re losing a lot in the gastric juices. So when you get an IV, it’s going directly into the bloodstream. And so you are getting complete absorption, as well as maximizing the benefits of all the nutrients that we’re putting into the bag. And so you definitely are going to feel better before you leave, like you’re going to feel like. Of that instantaneous. So I dehydration helps with things like energy and metabolism, strengthening immunity, detoxification and brightening your skin, improving your mood, athletic performance. So we see people from anywhere from hangovers to migraines to surgery to jet lags, the cold and flu, chronic illnesses. So it can help with a lot of different
ADRIENNE:
things. I know that Attilio and I, we like to come and see you, especially before we have a lot of travel. Yeah, on our agenda, yeah? So you don’t get so we don’t get sick while we’re on vacation, because, like, no one likes to get sick while they’re gone away from home like that is not fun, yeah? But if you go and you get your proof, you are do preventative measures, like the IV drip it, but it strengthens your immune system. Yeah, right, yeah,
LEIGH:
absolutely. And it is very satisfying when people say, like, I was getting a sore throat and I didn’t end up getting sick or well in my paddling competition. Or, yeah, we just had a big group of guys go to Fiji, and they were like, I felt so bad. That’s better because we were surfing. And thank you so much. Yeah, it’s really great just to everyone’s busy. And so if you can give yourself a little pump up and a little bit of edge to feel better with how much we do on an everyday basis, it’s a good thing.
ATTILIO:
Well, and this is stuff that, like, you know, athletes use, and why not us everyday people,
ADRIENNE:
yeah, so, so you’re, you’re talking about, like, the IV therapies now, you offer a specific one as well, you know, besides, like, the the typical vitamins, what is the NAD therapy? And what are the benefits of that? And
ATTILIO:
that’s the one Adrienne and I do, and make sure that we get out there on a regular basis. Yes, yeah,
LEIGH:
yeah. So what’s it really exciting, if it’s all the trends going on, some of these things are going beyond typical esthetics, and people are wanting to age smarter, optimize health and really staying ahead of the curve. And NAD is becoming more popular one because some celebrities are being more vocal about it, but a lot of wellness experts are learning about the benefits of NAD. So it’s a powerful coenzyme. It’s in all of our cells. It declines as we age. It supports cellular energy, brain function, metabolism, DNA repair. It can reduce inflammation and food craving. So it Promotes Healthy Aging and Longevity by improving mental focus and combating fatigue, so it’s ideal for recovery, as well as anyone really looking to optimize their peak performance on a cellular level. Yeah,
ATTILIO:
and if you know what entity stands for, and you’re on Jeopardy, it’s going to come up on Triple jeopardy for $800 under wellness and what it stands for. I looked it up, nickel Tina, tinamide, ad nine, Dino, cleotide. I probably mispronounced it, but you get my jack, it’s some big words. And,
LEIGH:
yeah, so we offer NAD with a low dose or high dose drip, but we also do it in shots, so you can get a lower dose of NAD and an inner muscular shot. And so sometimes people start there just to see what it feels like. Yeah.
ADRIENNE:
Okay, so you have the IV trips with the vitamins The NAD. And now let’s move on to the micro needling. And what is a PRP facial? PRP facial?
LEIGH:
Yeah, PRP stands for platelet rich plasma, so it’s a type of micro needling. So micro needling and PRP both help improve texture and tone by boosting collagen. It can help with scarring, hyper bistro and tone. And so when you combine, let’s say, PRP and red light therapy, you can really do amazing like skin rejuvenation. And we also use the PRP with hair restoration to help grow thinning hair.
ADRIENNE:
That’s, uh, that’s pretty innovative. So, yeah, how long do these treatments take? Is it like an hour? Two hours? How long do people need a time block for this? Yeah, it’s
LEIGH:
about an hour and a half. So we numb you with a numbing cream so you don’t feel any of it. Sometimes the word micro needling can be a little bit scary, but yeah, you’re numb with a cream. So you’ll sit with a cream on for about 20 to 30 minutes. And then we do the procedure, and then you look a little sunburnt for about 24 hours, 12 to 24 hours and but it’s really fast. Not a lot of downtime really fits easily into busy lifestyles. Well,
ATTILIO:
you know, I was, I was at the marketing company, and they were doing a focus group, and they had the three terms, massive needling, horse needling, or micro needling. Everybody unanimously said we’re gonna go with micro needling. So okay, so that that there’s that and then,
ADRIENNE:
and then, let’s talk about you are expanding in 2025 we have expansion wellness workshops and your current promotion. So. Let’s start with the expansion talk
ATTILIO:
about the new, exciting, new offers share with us. Yes,
LEIGH:
yeah, we’ve extended our space, and so we now have group chairs, and so you can come and work with your friends. We’ve hired a new aesthetician, so she’ll be doing kind of the medical grade facial with radio frequency for skin tightening and the facial infusion. We’re carrying a new skincare line called is clinical, as well as our color science products. So we’ve updated the website so you can see those in our shop, as well as what products we use in our homes and with our kids. And Friday, we’re going to be at the makers market enter for International Women’s Day. So we’ll be doing b 12 skinny shots and antioxidant testing on Friday. And we just, we really enjoy collaborating with other businesses, with other fitness studios. We’re gonna have more space now to do education with the community. Yeah.
ATTILIO:
So all you people going Korea for do all of this, no need you just go to Kailua. That’s right. That’ll be your new tagline. Don’t go to Korea. Go to Kailua.
ADRIENNE:
So it sounds like you’re able to, like, with this larger space, you can have a little drip party, yeah, do you know some hanging out together and get healthy? Yeah?
LEIGH:
Yeah. We can do little sip and drip parties. We can do our Botox parties. So yeah, we’re really excited about the direction everything’s going. Yeah, I
ATTILIO:
think for Adrienne and I, you know, our personal testimonial is that, you know, you see a lot of this marketing. I mean, I know I mentioned it to you, Lee, that I go and, like, I’m in Nashville, and then I go use the bathroom, and they got, like, hangover IV therapy advertisements all in the men’s room.
ADRIENNE:
They have the same thing in Las Vegas, everywhere it’s in Las Vegas, Nashville, there’s places where there’s a lot of partying and drinking and dehydration. It just, you
ATTILIO:
know, for me personally, I’d rather have someone like, I want to know who the person is that’s running this, and are you following a lot of the, you know, sanitary protocols and all that stuff, and not just like, oh, I watched it late night infomercial, and I open up drip therapy lab. No, no. Thank you. I want, I want a medical expert,
ADRIENNE:
and then when you put the needle in, it never hurts. Like she’s a trained professional, like I’ve never I don’t like needles. I don’t like IVs. It’s like, not comfortable. But whenever Lee and her team does it, they’re like, they have not they have magical fingers. And I’ll
ATTILIO:
give you my testimonial, even for, for all your staff in that, um, I cannot give blood anymore because I’m one of those wimps that passes out. He’s on the left. Turn white as a sheet. I get all sweaty. Yeah, I’ve done it like, it’s like, I keep saying it’s in my mind, it’s in my mind, it’s in my mind. But every time I’m like, oh. And so they’re like, You can’t do it anymore because we don’t want you to get hurt, but I don’t get all sweaty and turn white as a ghost when I go to you guys and stuff like that. So that’s, that’s a, that’s a good testimonial. So you guys, who’s all chicken okole, you chicken butts, you don’t like to get the needle and the IVs and all of that. It’s a very good experience. And we keep coming and we keep going. Yeah, we
LEIGH:
appreciate that as it becomes more popular, is important, and we really do pride ourselves on, you know, giving you this fall about your experience, but with the hospital level expertise and science based, new guidelines have come out just a year ago, and hopefully people are all adopting them. But there is changes in the ID industry, so it’s important to keep up on all the new guidelines and regulations.
ATTILIO:
Yeah. And talk about what you did prior to this. Talk about and mention it again. What did you do for a whole long, a long time as a nurse, and then what did you see that made you like, hey, I want to go to the other end of the spectrum of health.
LEIGH:
Yeah. So my specialty for ICU and emergency room, I worked at all the hospitals on the island, but majority was at Straub. I was a code nurse and worked in the pacu in the ER there, and so I think it was for me just getting a little bit frustrated on their reactive approach to healthcare, seeing younger people suffering from preventable diseases caused by lifestyle. I just wanted to reach people sooner to help them prioritize prevention. At the time, I was teaching hot yoga, my husband’s a city and county lifeguard, like we were dehydrated, our friends were dehydrated. So we wanted to, like, bring that benefit to parents and nighttime workers and athletes without meeting the time and cost it took to go to the ER, gotcha,
ATTILIO:
because, yeah, you can all, you can be passed out on a curb after the nightclub and go in the bambalance to the ER, or you can just team and be hydrated. And I’m not saying like that. That’s like going to make you super woman or man to go party more. It’s just at the end of the day. I think everybody, I think it’s more and more of a trend. Lee, you’re seeing it that more and more people are focused on health and wellness, and not like the Prince song party till because it’s 1999 we want to live longer, and we want to be more able bodied and fit and be able to be mobile for Adrienne
LEIGH:
and i Wow. Um, if you’re not mentoring it, you don’t know, and you can’t change it. So it’s really important to test your vitamins, test your supplements, so you’re ensuring that what you’re investing in is actually working. And just a thought, you know, it’s really kind of smart to do pre hangover drips, yeah, before you go out, not just after, because I can help a lot too.
ATTILIO:
Well, you know, here’s an indication, even the younger people, because my my kids are millennials, like even my daughter, she’s in her mid 20s. And I will tell you, what is it? What is it called? It’s like, dry, dry, dry January.
ADRIENNE:
That is like the
ATTILIO:
alcohol producing, making companies are all bummed because their alcohol sales goes into the toilet, yeah? Because more and more the kids are like, we want to do a dry January. And then some people are like, what? Like, what is this serving me? I want to focus on health and going on hikes, not getting hammered on a Saturday night and sleeping in till two in the afternoon, spending their
ADRIENNE:
disposable income on IV drips. And NAD, instead of on the barge. Yeah, so, so Lee, like, Where’s, where’s the best place for our listeners to follow you to book an appointment? How would they? How would they go about doing that? Yeah, yeah.
